Managing Members

As already has been mentioned, members are the most important thing for a organization. Managing members can be a nightmare, but fear not, because the organization membership management system is doing an excellent job at lessening this work.

To get a list of the members in your organization, go to the Members screen (in the Org game menu). At the top of the page you will get some statistics, like average level, score and warstrength, as well as maximum level, and totals for score and warstrength. Below that overview information, is a list of all the members in your organization and some basic information on each member. This includes the coordinates, the level, score and warstrength, and a couple of flags indicated whether the member is on vacation, protected by the Sol Peace Force, and whether he or she is logged in right now. To get more detailed information about the member, click on his or her handle.

On this member detail screen, you will see quite some information at the top. Then you will get a list of all the privileges this member has within the organization. This is a lengthy list of things that each member can do, and includes things like accepting new members, promoting and demoting members, requesting a NAP with another organization, initiating a organization war, and changing the organization information. At the bottom of the page you will get a list of options you can do with the member: promote, demote, or kick.

All members have a rank within the organization. It can be one of the following:

  • Applicant

  • Member

  • Veteran

  • Advisor

  • Leader

The top rank, Leader, can only be used by one person at a time. You can never have two commanders in your organization. This is to prevent a setting where multiple commanders would disagree on something and there would be a total mess. The player that has the commander rank will not be able to leave the organization, nor will he or she be able to create a new organization. To do these things, the commander needs to setup an election, and the election must not end with the current commander (see Elections for details).

Please note that there is one very special privilege that is called "View Memberlist". This privilege is required for a member to see the memberlist. Without it, the member cannot see anything, not even the overview info at the top of the Members screen. The default setting for new members leaves them without this privilege. This is to prevent people from joining organizations, snagging the organization memberlist, and leaving the organization.

Before giving members any special privileges, and the "View Memberlist" privilege in particular, you should be sure that you can rely on and trust that person. You should also let the person be in your organization without any privileges for a little while to see that these members are actually worthy of your precious organization.
