Attack Types
There are a number of ways to use your units, and how they operate are done from the Operations screen (this can be found in the Military game menu, together with the Management option). Just like with management of units, you have little to no direct control over your units in Mech Wars. Instead you give a whole squadron a common order.
There are 3 types of orders in Mech Wars:
- Attacking
Attacks are aggressive operations, but will most likely get you something. Be that recognition, experience, or score; you will get something from it.
- Retreating
If you feel you have had enough, or feel the operation is too risky, you can retreat your squadron, and the units will head home.
- Defending
To be able to help other players, your units can defend another ward. This can be useful, and is used heavily in large organization wars.
There is also a special mode which is used when the squadrons are at home. This is called the “Defend HQ” mode, and all units will automatically defend your ward and attack hostile units. (This is the default mode for squadrons, and it is impossible to change it to something else while they are at your ward.)
Here is a complete list of all the different operations, how long they take, and what kind of operation it is. Keep in mind though, that the difference between these are mainly the operation length.
