Managing Units

Units are managed from the Management screen in the Military game menu. As you do not have the same level of power in unit control as you do with a graphical strategy game, the game will take care of controlling the units while they are in combat. What you need to do, though, is to tell the game which units you want in which squadron.

To change the squadron setup, go to the aforementioned Management screen. You will then be presented with a set of controls that you can use to organize your units. In the first column, select the type of unit you wish to move. This can either be “All”, in which case every unit will then be moved, or a particular unit. The “All” type can only be chosen in the first row. Next up is to select how many units you wish to move. This can be a number, or it can be an asterisk (“*”); however, please note that if you selected “All” in the first column, you will not need to enter anything here since it will move all mechs anyway.

The next thing to do is to choose which squadron to move the unit from, and which squadron you want to the unit in. There are a few things to remember when moving mechs. First of all, you have three squadrons, one which cannot be moved, the base squadron. This squadron is also the squadron that all newly trained units will be put in. Whether they were built and trained at the War Factory or bought on the Black Market, they will be put in this squadron. Second, the two squadrons that you move the units between will have to be at your ward (ie., you cannot move a unit between your ward and a squadron that is already out on a mission to crush the enemy).

Last, but definately not least, use the military overview that you have on this screen. It will outline how many units you have of each unit type, and in which squadron they are in right now.

When you are done, click on “Initiate Transfer” to actually move the units.
