Signing Up
To play Mech Wars you are required to register an account. This is so that we can recognize you each time you wish to play the game. Getting an account is done by going to the www.mech-wars.net website, and clicking on “Sign Up”.
Please note that if you have ever played Mech Wars after April 2001, an account already exists for you. If you do not remember your password, you can use the lost password feature (see Logging In for more information) and we will reset it for you.
On this screen you fill in your first name, your last name, your current email address, and the username you want. Please remember that a valid email address is required, and information on how to activate your account will be sent to this email address. When you have entered the required information, hit the “Register” button and you should receive an email at the address you entered. In the case that someone else already has the username you wanted, you will need to enter another username, and you will be presented with 3 alternatives that are not already taken.
Then go and read the email you just received. Please note that it might take a few minutes for the email to actually get to your mailbox, so if you do not get it at once, do not fear — the email will get there. In the case that you do not get an email address, there might be a few possible solutions. First of all, you can go back to the “Sign Up” screen, and try to register again using the same email address as you entered last time. This is to make sure that you didn't type in a wrong email address (you will get a message about the email address already existing if you didn't type in the wrong email address). If that doesn't change things, you can try to give it a little bit more time. If all things fail, you can contact the Mech Wars Customer Support (support@mech-wars.net) and they will setup an account for you.
Now, in the email you just received there should be a link that you should visit. If you are using a fairly new mail reader (or web-based email), you can try clicking on the link. If that doesn't work, follow the alternative instructions in the email.
Now you should have your account fully set up. You should receive another email with the password for your account. However, you should already be logged into the account manager from where you can manage your account:
change your password,
invite your friends,
contact customer support, and
make payments for Mech Wars.
You are highly encouraged to go change your password as soon as possible. This is because you should change it into something that you will remember much more easily. However, keep in mind that your password need to be at least 8 characters long, and it should be as difficult to guess as possible (making a password that is a mix of both letters and numbers is a good idea and highly suggested).
